When I walk across our hotel terrace in the morning and look around, my eyes often linger on a very special building: Neuschwanstein Castle. It sits enthroned up there as if it doesn't quite belong in this world - a dream made of stone, nestled into the rocks and surrounded by forests and mountain peaks.
Recently, this castle received perhaps the most important award that a cultural monument can receive: Neuschwanstein Castle is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site - together with three other castles built by our Bavarian King Ludwig II: Herrenchiemsee Castle, Linderhof Castle and the Royal House at Schachen.
